Y-U-M MEEEE

Sooo... let me just start off by saying that I LOVE rainy days!! I think it's because there's only a few of them a year here in good 'ol AZ, and every time it does rain here it always smells so good outside :] thank you creosote!

Anyways, I was sitting at work staring out my window (wishing I could be anywhere else) and I started thinking about chili. Yup, chili. I WANT SOME! It seriously sounded so good. So I went to Fresh n' Easy and just looked for anything that would taste good in chili and decided to put it all together :] It turned out ahhmazing. By no means am i a cook haha maybe that's why I'm so proud of myself, but try it out and tell me what you think! I named it Rainy Day Chili, you know you just love the name huh? lol Oh and IDK how to write a dang recipe so just deal with it mmmkay ha ha.

Rainy Day Chili

two pounds ground turkey (or ground beef whatev)
1 small jalepeno-diced
1 small can of diced green chilies
2 cans red kidney beans
1 can stewed tomatoes - diced and add the sauce too!!
2 cups cooked brown rice
2 tbsp garlic salt (or to taste whatever works. i like, ok love, garlic salt)
red chili powder to taste
1/4 cup water

Brown the meat in a skillet and drain out the fat. Add all ingredients into pan and bring to a boil. I like my chili kinda spicy, so i added a sprinkle of chili powder over the top and mixed it. The jalepeno does add a little kick though. I lalso ike my chili a little on the thicker side, so after looking at the mixture you can decide if you want to add more water-but keep in mind that the tomatoes will give off moisture too. After the mixture boils, cover and simmer for an hour. DONE! Easy Peeezy lemon squeezey! :]

I'm thinking the longer it simmers the better it will be. Tristan got home from work about 45 minutes after I started simmering and he had to eat it right away. He has zero patience, especially when things smell good :] So next time I think I'll try it in the crock pot and keep it on low while I'm at work.

Sorry my hog of a fiance ate it all before i could take a picture! Oh by the way it should serve 4 normal people, but this batch only served me and Tristan cuz he's a garbage disposal who is going to eat us out of our house :P Well I hope you enjoy!!

Thursday, January 7, 2010

Well, hello there 2010! When did you sneak up?!

Seriously! Where did the time go?! This year honestly flew by. I don't know if we were just too busy with the plethora (yup! i said plethora!) of things that fill our every day life or if the whole world just decided to skip a few months and not tell me about it (I'd like to believe the second one). I don't think it hit me that a whole year just passed by until I went to work and had to write the date on my white board. So I decided to do a list of our highlight moments for 2009 (borrowed from shelbs)Enjoy!! :]

.:.March.:.

We got the keys to our first house! We love living together-it's a learning experience all on it's own, but that's for another post. It's been fun decorating and making things our own. My fingers hurt when I just mention painting, but it's a good hurt. Right? This picture is from after we got the house painted in November. It was white with an ugly blue trim before.

.:.April.:.

April is our anniversary month. April 16th to be exact. This was a highlight month for me because after about 2 weeks of living together Tristan finally learned that I was NOT his mother :] He started pitching in around the house and doing chores so I wasn't so flippin' grumpy all the time. Don't get me wrong, I love cleaning and cooking and doing laundry and all the other stuff a woman is known for doing around the house. BUT for now, while we're both working full time, he can pitch in. And he learned pretty darn fast :] Ahhh the sweet smell of victory.. Gotta love it!

.:.July.:.

I only mention July because it was our first "summer prices" bill from SRP. Does it really cost $185 to cool a 1350 square foot house?! I call b.s.! Curse you Arizona heat!

.:.September.:.

Our birthday's are in September. Mine is the 9th and Tristan's is the 12th. This year was my 21st birthday and lets just say I celebrated my brains out. That is, until I puked my brains out :]

.:.December.:.

December was a pretty big month for us! Tristan and I went to his parents house for Christmas Eve and had fun with all the kids looking at Christmas lights in the back of his dads truck. We also hosted Christmas Day for my side of the family. I was actually much more relaxed then I thought I would be. For whatever reason, both of us spaced about stores being closed on Christmas Day and we forgot to go grocery shopping Christmas Eve, so we kind of had to improvise. It still turned out good :] And of course he asked me to marry him towards the end of December, which was probably my biggest personal highlight of the past 5 years haha

Over all 2009 was very good to us! I know there was a lot of other fun times and things to be grateful for, but that would have taken oh-so-very-long to write down. So here it goes.. ADIOS 2009! HOWDY 2010! Please be as good to us as the year before :]
